Perinatal Forum - Screening
for Down’s Syndrome 2007
The National Screening Committee has set the target for
Down’s Syndrome screening from April 2007 as a detection rate
of at least 75% and a false positive rate of at most 3% of the screened
population.
The purpose of this follow-up meeting is to discuss the clinical implications
of models which are able to achieve these targets in the West Midlands.
The presentations will include an update of the 3-Stage Contingency
Pilot in Stafford, and an examination of the implications of first
trimester screening on laboratory, ultrasound and diagnostic services
as well as on maternity care in general.
