ISIS 2001 will be held in Birmingham on 8-10 July 2001, immediately preceding the 29th British Congress of O&G. The Botanical Gardens provide a visually stunning setting and are an ideal conference venue in the heart of Birmingham, within easy walking distance of the famous entertainment venues, canals, restaurants and hotels of Broad Street.

About the Botanical Gardens...

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens were opened in 1832. They were designed by J. C. Loudon, a leading garden planner, horticultural journalist and publisher. Apart from the glasshouses, which were added during the latter half of the 19th century, the layout of the Gardens is much the same today as Loudon's original design.

The glasshouses have always been a major attraction: The Tropical House was built in 1852 to house the famous tropical water lily, Victoria amazonica; the Palm House in 1871 and the present range of Terrace Glasshouses were added in 1873. Together these houses represent a broad variety of climatic zones, displaying plants from throughout the world, including the flora of the tropical rain forests and desert regions.
