Maternal and Neonatal Electronic Recording System

Number 3 - June 2003

  • The Antenatal Screening component has been programmed and is herewith released for consultation and a two-site pilot, starting in June. The data fields follow the recommendations of the Antenatal Screening subgroup of the UK National Screening Committee (NSC). This module will be available on the NHSNet as a stand-alone version, or within MANNERS Maternity. It incorporates functionality for electronic reporting of Congenital Anomalies.

  • The ethnic classification system (geographical ethnic origin, GEO) has now completed a successful six month consultation period, and has also been mapped to the categories used in NN4B, while still maintaining its geographic structure. The classification system has been incorporated into the Pregnancy Notes (version 6, out mid June) and into MANNERS.

  • 17 of the 18 neonatal units in the West Midlands are now either on line (12) or downloading the required data from their own or proprietary systems (5). The last unit is being trained and will come on line in June.
