NPfIT for Maternity
I - 2005
The first national meeting was held on 18 May 2005,
initiated and co-chaired by Jason Gardosi (Birmingham),
Adam Gornall (Shrewsbury) and Lucy Kean (Nottingham).
It was organised to highlight and address a number of
concerns about the National Programme which have been
circulating in e-mail correspondence between members
of the British Maternal Fetal Medicine Society.
The meeting was hosted by the Perinatal Institute and
supported by National Programme for IT (NHS Connecting
for Health) through its new Director of Clinical Knowledge,
Process and Safety, Sir Muir Gray. There were 95 registrants,
including clinicians (obstetricians, midwives) and NPfIT
and/or LSP representatives from all English Clusters.
Summary action points
- Rapid scoping exercise to find suitable product
for an interim solution
- Bring together best practice / professional groups
from various clusters
- PI to develop webpages with presentations, summary
conclusions and discussion board
- PI to organise follow up meeting to monitor progress
NPFIT for Maternity II - 2006
Twelve months on, the second NPfIT for Maternity
meeting was held on 17 May 2006 - (see here
for programme details).
Once again there was a capacity audience with representatives
from all regions/clusters, active discussions
about progress (or lack of it) and the main priorities
which the programme needs for the maternity/perinatal
field. A major focus was an overview of the "Do Once
And Share" project.
