Regional
screening program
Here in the West Midlands, a regional mapping program
has already been completed. This provides a baseline
assessment of the Antenatal Screening provision in
each of the 20 units here in West Midlands, identifying
gaps that need to be addressed.
Specifically, it has concentrated on 6 main areas:
1. Down's Syndrome Screening
2. Neural Tube Defects
3. Haemoglobinopathies
4. Serology Screening
5. Infection Screening
6. Gestational Diabetes
This data is in the process of being analysed with
a report due in the next 2 months. This information
will then be disseminated back to the region, as well
as serving as a preliminary report for the national
screening program.
